5th Annual Quarter Place Tribute

Join Patrick Henry’s Red Hill and members of the descendant community to honor the lives and legacies of the enslaved population at Red Hill and their descendants.

Doors open at 10:00 am with an opportunity to speak with partner museums and organizations tabling on the grounds.

Presentations begin at 11:00 am and include an opening ceremony at Quarter Place Cemetery, where 147 enslaved and free African Americans are buried. Hear research updates and genealogy discoveries from our research staff.

A banquet luncheon will be provided free of charge.
Keynote Speaker:
Martin Townes– Deputy Butler for Virginia’s First Family and the Executive Mansion Historian. He is the third generation of his family to serve at the Executive Mansion. The Townes Family has served at the Executive Mansion for over 40 years. Please join us as Mr. Townes shares his family’s long-held legacy and their stories.
