Patrick Henry’s Red Hill has entered the world of Higher Education. Through partnering with The University of Virginia and UVA Lifetime Learning, a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), named Patrick Henry: Forgotten Founder, has been created for any person, across the globe to participate in. This course allows for thousands of students to enroll, discuss course concepts with each other, and complete graded coursework at their own pace for certification. This class launched on June 12, 2017, and has seen thousands of people successfully complete the course.

John Ragosta, a Patrick Henry scholar and Fellow with the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities will be teaching this beginner level, 5-week long class. He is also the author of Patrick Henry Proclaiming a Revolution (sold in our gift shop). According to the course description, “This course will explore how he (Patrick Henry) overcame challenges to reach the pinnacle of Virginia politics and unite Americans behind a challenge to Britain – the eighteenth century’s super-power, why he opposed the U.S. Constitution, and why he then came out of retirement to defend the people’s Constitution against the attacks of Jefferson and Madison.”

Enrollment is completely free to have access to all content each week. There is also the option of certification for those who would like proof of completion. The cost of this is only $49 (financial aid is available to those who qualify) and allows up to 180 days for course completion.

Enrollment for this class is rolling, so you can begin the class at the next available start date. For more information, please visit www.coursera.org/learn/henry.
