Hello! My name is Melissa Carwile and I am an Financial Consultant at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill. I was born and raised in Campbell County and have lived in this beautiful area for 63 years. I graduated from William Campbell High School in 1975 and took some accounting and banking classes at Central Virginia Community College. I have no formal college education, but I obtained a vast amount of knowledge from working in my father’s country store while growing up. I was exposed to inventory, bookkeeping, retail sales, lots of old-school math, and working with the general public during my tenure at the store, all of which are part of my role as a member of the Red Hill team.
Generally, I am a visual learner, which is a reason why I really enjoy watching children learn through living history demonstrations about how people lived during the Colonial Period. My job entails accounting duties, payroll, overseeing Red Hill’s operations and staff assignments, assist with planning events, and filling in at times as a Visitor Center Associate. I am secretary of the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation Board of Directors, treasurer of the Patrick Henry Auxiliary, and work closely with the Patrick Henry Auxiliary and Patrick Henry Descendants Branch as well as the Red Hill’s CEO. Outside of the office, I enjoy living on a small farm with two dogs and my husband and love it when I get to spend time with my grandson. If you have any questions about Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, feel free to reach out to me!
