My name is Cindy Smith, and I am the Operations Administrative Assistant here at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill. I spent most of my childhood in Ohio, but I lived in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Arkansas, and Texas, before moving to Virginia. I am currently seeking a B.A. in History with a concentration in Public History, and a minor in Anthropology at Longwood University. Some of my favorite courses at Longwood were, Frontiers of the Early American Republic, Collections Management, Introduction to Museum Studies, Archeology, History Seminar focusing on Joan of Arc, Virginia in the Civil War, and Archeology of Virginia. I first came to Patrick Henry’s Red Hill in 2018 as a Patrick Henry Auxiliary member volunteer.
As a volunteer, I work our Living History Days, which gives children of all ages a hands-on way to learn about colonial life. I mainly demonstrate spinning and weaving, but I have also helped with Flax to Fiber, Colonial Medicine, and Pottery. I just recently became a Visitor Center Associate in 2022. If you think you would like to volunteer at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, we would love to have you join us.
