Hello everyone! My name is Elena Kendrick, and I am the Enslaved Cemetery Researcher at Red Hill. I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, and spent most of my life in love with history, museums, gymnastics, musicals, and dance. As a history major and writing minor at North Carolina Central University, I’m delighted to be a member of the team devoted to telling American history from the perspectives of the enslaved, free, or Patrick Henry’s family. My responsibilities are to research the 147 graves in the Enslaved Cemetery, research or gather artifacts related to the enslaved, and produce publishable and accurate research findings. As a new member of the Red Hill family, I would like to send the warmest of welcomes. Don’t be a stranger! If you have comments, questions, concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me.
