Hello! I have been working here at Red Hill for about 10 years. I became acquainted with Red Hill through the Charlotte County Master Gardeners. I was a member, and most of the women there are on the Red Hill Auxiliary and volunteered here. They invited me to join the Auxiliary, and when I started volunteering my life changed! I fell in love with Red Hill & the legacy of Patrick Henry. Then, I was asked to join the staff here as a Visitor Center Associate several days a week–and my life changed more! I could not be happier. I am now the Museum Store Manager and my tasks include training the Visitor Center staff, managing the inventory that we have in the shop, looking for new merchandise to carry, ordering merchandise, and displaying the merchandise. I also am in charge of our online gift shop and enter and manage that inventory as well as shipping orders. I also welcome visitors when they arrive and start them on their Red Hill experience by sharing the history of Red Hill and Patrick Henry, which is my favorite job. I work in the office doing data entry and updating our donor systems and mailing systems.
Every day is different! For Living History Days, I cook in our Open Hearth Kitchen, give walking tours, and occasionally do Colonial Medicine. I am constantly learning about Patrick Henry and admiring him more every day for the family man that he was, the Statesman that he was, and the Patriot that he was. I have the best job in the world!
