Description

John Adams of Massachusetts first encountered the Virginian Patrick Henry in 1774 when both men attended the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia. Although born into different American worlds, one defined largely by freedom and the other slavery, the two revolutionaries shared a passion for religion, law, and the young republic’s survival. On February 21, 2023, at 7 pm, join Dr. Sara Georgini of the Massachusetts Historical Society in conversation with Dr. Jim Ambuske of George Mason University for an illuminating discussion about the unlikely friendship between Adams, the “Atlas of Independence,” and Henry, the “Demosthenes of the age.”
