The Race to the Dan, which Larry Aaron has appropriately entitled his book, paved the way for the colonial victory in Yorktown. Mr. Aaron has researched  and documented the events which included Boyd’s Ferry and Irwin’s Ferry near what is now the of South Boston. At this juncture, the forces of General Nathanael Greene, whom George Washington had placed in charge of American the southern colonies, were reenergized, refocused, re-enforced and resupplied.
